The Informatics Sales Specialist, Japan role offers the opportunity to drive the adoption of advanced informatics solutions within the life sciences sector across Japan. This position combines scientific expertise with commercial strategy, supporting customers in the implementation and utilisation of data analysis platforms, cloud-based workflows, and bioinformatics solutions. Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth through the adoption and utilisation of informatics products, providing strategic sales support and subject matter expertise throughout the sales cycle.

  • Promote and support solutions across:

    • Secondary analysis

    • Data visualisation

    • Cloud-based workflows and pipelines

    • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

    • Analysis, annotation, interpretation and reporting of molecular testing data in clinical research environments

  • Consult with customers on informatics requirements, including hardware and software needed for data analysis, and support the evaluation and implementation of enterprise informatics platforms.

  • Conduct proof-of-concept and proof-of-principle analyses to demonstrate solution suitability and value.

  • Influence purchasing decisions through scientific expertise, stakeholder engagement, commercial strategy, and strategic selling techniques.

  • Collaborate closely with account managers and specialist sales teams to support customers in scientific data analysis and interpretation.

  • Develop and actively manage a robust sales pipeline.

  • Contribute to strategic account planning activities alongside account management teams.

  • Deliver customer presentations, workshops, seminars, product demonstrations, and advanced informatics training sessions.

  • Engage technical and support teams where required to facilitate detailed demonstrations, customer assessments, and pilot projects.

  • Provide Voice of Customer feedback to product development, marketing, and other internal teams.

  • Help customers overcome informatics-related barriers to adoption and identify opportunities to expand the use of products and services through innovative solutions and professional services.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.

  • Experience in a direct sales or customer-facing role.

  • Experience with sequencing data analysis and interpretation, including:

    • Variant calling

    • Filtering

    • Annotation

    • Interpretation

    • Reporting

  • Recognised technical expertise in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of clinical sequencing applications, associated data formats, file types, data footprints, and common analytical approaches.

  • Experience with software toolkits, applications, pipelines, algorithms, and enterprise platforms used in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis.

  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and data security concepts, including platforms such as AWS and Azure.

  • Strong commercial awareness and commitment to customer satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic selling of informatics, software, or SaaS solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively within a highly matrixed sales organisation.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills.

  • Fluency in both Japanese and English, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

  • Comfortable interacting with executives, laboratory directors, researchers, IT leaders, and data analysts.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally as required.
