The IT Audit Director – Japan and APAC Technology role offers a senior leadership opportunity to shape and deliver independent assurance across regional technology, infrastructure, and cybersecurity functions. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing audit strategy and execution while influencing how technology risk is managed across a diverse and evolving digital landscape.
Responsibilities
Define and deliver audit strategies addressing risks across applications, cloud, infrastructure, and emerging technologies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements
Oversee execution of a comprehensive assurance plan covering business processes, platforms, data centres, and technology domains across Japan and APAC
Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing audit team, including offshore resources, with a focus on capability building in emerging technologies
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders such as CIOs, CISOs, and CTOs, providing insights to strengthen controls and processes
Review and communicate audit findings to executive leadership, contributing to governance forums, steering committees, and working groups
Drive innovation in audit practices by integrating data analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation into testing and risk assessment
Requirements
Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with proven ability to present complex information effectively
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing teams and engaging senior stakeholders
Strategic mindset with the ability to prioritise, manage complexity, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
High level of professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgement in assessing risks and controls
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, engineering, or technology
Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent
Extensive experience in assurance, including internal audit or public accounting, ideally within regulated environments
Deep expertise in areas including cloud platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, and emerging technologies
Experience auditing cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS) and complex technology environments
Proven track record of leading large-scale initiatives and developing diverse, high-performing teams
Fluency in English; additional language capability is advantageous
