The Medical Science Liaison (Vaccines) role offers the opportunity to serve as a key scientific partner between vaccine research and healthcare professionals across Japan. This position plays an important part in delivering high-quality scientific exchange, building trusted relationships with external stakeholders, and contributing to medical strategy through field-based insights. Responsibilities
Build and maintain trusted scientific partnerships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and medical institutions across Japan through proactive field engagement
Deliver high-quality, balanced scientific information during one-to-one interactions and group settings, responding to unsolicited requests with accuracy and expertise
Organise and facilitate local scientific meetings, including hospital staff meetings and webinars, in alignment with stakeholder engagement and country medical plans
Generate field insights and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support medical strategy development and evidence-generation activities
Support investigator-initiated research submissions and coordinate local advisory boards in compliance with applicable regulations and company standards
Communicate the clinical value of vaccine products to healthcare decision-makers and contribute to population health outcomes
Travel extensively across Japan to engage with healthcare professionals and strengthen scientific relationships
Requirements
MD, Pharmacy degree, or postgraduate qualification in a scientific discipline
Experience in stakeholder strategy, planning, and engagement within healthcare or pharmaceutical environments
Strong knowledge of disease areas and therapeutic landscapes
Proficiency in CRM systems and related digital tools
Ability to deliver impactful scientific exchanges through both face-to-face and virtual channels
Strategic thinking and sound business acumen
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills
Strong cross-functional collaboration capabilities
High learning agility and adaptability
Native-level Japanese language skills
Intermediate business-level spoken and written English
