The Research Support Associate (Japan Equities) role is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in equity research and financial analysis who enjoy working with data, generating investment insights, and supporting investment decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced investment professional, gaining valuable exposure to active investment management and developing expertise in Japanese equity research.
Responsibilities
Work closely with a senior equity analyst to support coverage of Japanese listed companies and sectors.
Develop and maintain financial models, earnings forecasts, and company valuations.
Gather, validate, and analyse corporate, industry, and market information from a variety of sources.
Prepare research reports, investment notes, briefing materials, and presentation documents.
Monitor company earnings announcements, market developments, and key events relevant to covered stocks.
Assist with the ongoing review and assessment of portfolio holdings and potential investment opportunities.
Help improve research processes, workflow efficiency, and data management practices within the team.
Conduct background research on industries, competitors, and market trends to support investment analysis.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
At least one year of experience in investment research, financial analysis, corporate finance, consulting, or another analytical environment.
Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and company valuation methodologies.
Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Naturally inquisitive with a genuine interest in financial markets and company analysis.
Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn from experienced investment professionals.
