The Safety Engineering Supervisor role plays an important part in leading safety, health and environmental initiatives at a research and development site. It offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, operational safety, and continuous improvement across SHE activities and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) activities at the R&D site, including chemical control, occupational safety, emergency response, and sustainability initiatives

  • Manage Management of Change (MOC), permit to work systems, risk assessments, and incident investigation and sharing

  • Conduct site patrols, ensure legal compliance, oversee security, and monitor employee health and safety practices

  • Organise and deliver SHE training, facilitate SHE Committee activities, and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS)

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders such as site leadership, R&D teams, and regional managers, as well as external contractors and SHE representatives

  • Support asset integrity and reliability by ensuring equipment is maintained in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards, depending on capability

  • Contribute to equipment compliance and maintenance across multiple sites where applicable

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical industry

  • Basic English reading and writing skills; speaking ability is advantageous

  • Knowledge of machinery or electrical systems is preferred

  • Experience in maintenance or engineering is considered an advantage
