The Senior Field Application Engineer - Automotive role offers an opportunity to work on advanced embedded systems supporting mission-critical environments. This position combines technical expertise with customer engagement, focusing on delivering high-quality pre-sales solutions and influencing product innovation.
Responsibilities
Analyse customer design requirements and align feature requests with market trends, customer needs, and budget considerations
Provide feasibility assessments and define the scope for customer-driven solutions
Collaborate closely with customers on software design to maximise the effective use of products
Act as a liaison between customers and internal engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and delivery
Lead pre-sales software development and consulting activities, including demonstrations, benchmarking, and high-level system design support
Deliver technical presentations to customers, partners, and large audiences, including participation in regional trade shows
Manage customer technical requirements from development through to commercial release while supporting issue resolution and providing feedback for future product development
Requirements
University degree in business, engineering, or a related field
Strong spoken and written English skills alongside fluency in Japanese
Proven experience with embedded software, hardware, and system-level solutions within automotive or other mission-critical environments such as medical, industrial, transportation, robotics, drones, IoT, or aerospace
Minimum of 8 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 7 years with a master’s degree
Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytical thinking
Proactive communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to engage effectively with customers
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a global environment
Strong organisational and time management skills
Willingness to travel within the region for customer and partner engagement
