The Senior Planner role offers an exciting opportunity to lead impactful inbound marketing projects that showcase destinations across Japan to international audiences. Combining strategic planning, client engagement and project leadership, this position plays a key role in developing innovative tourism marketing initiatives and supporting regional tourism growth.
Responsibilities
Lead inbound marketing projects from client development and proposal creation through to strategy execution and successful delivery.
Develop and implement marketing strategies across digital marketing, public relations, content development and promotional activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, tourism organisations and business partners to achieve project objectives.
Utilise international networks to support content creation, advertising campaigns and communications targeting overseas audiences.
Analyse campaign performance data, measure effectiveness against objectives and optimise marketing activities based on insights.
Collaborate with tourism operators and regional stakeholders to develop travel products and tourism experiences.
Oversee complex projects involving brand strategy, destination promotion, traveller engagement initiatives, content production and digital marketing activities.
Mentor, support and contribute to the development of junior planners and team members.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, advertising, project management or a related field.
Experience within an advertising agency is highly regarded.
Project management experience within marketing or related functions is preferred.
Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans.
Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
Experience leading client-facing projects or managing key accounts is advantageous.
Experience in new client acquisition or expanding existing client relationships is preferred.
Knowledge of KPI, OKR or similar performance management frameworks would be beneficial.
Experience in business strategy development is an advantage.
Understanding of creative direction, content production or creative project management is desirable.
Genuine interest in tourism, destination development and regional revitalisation.
Strong sense of ownership, initiative and problem-solving capability.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support colleagues.
Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
