The Country Finance Manager role offers an opportunity to drive end-to-end financial processes while partnering closely with stakeholders across a global organisation. This position combines leadership, operational excellence, and strategic collaboration to enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a dynamic international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage finance teams, including recruitment, performance management, and career development

  • Oversee daily operations of Finance and Order-to-Cash activities, alongside coordination of Procure-to-Pay and Record-to-Report processes

  • Collaborate with shared service centres to ensure effective transaction processing and consistent service delivery

  • Act as a local representative for corporate finance functions such as Treasury, Tax, and Insurance, aligning global frameworks with local requirements

  • Partner with business controlling teams to address financial risks, improve internal controls, and identify opportunities for optimisation

  • Drive process improvements, enhance KPIs, reduce manual journal entries, and strengthen financial reporting reliability

  • Manage internal controls to ensure full compliance with policies, procedures, and local accounting standards, including oversight of Travel and Expenses processes

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in finance and accounting, with strong expertise in J-GAAP and working knowledge of US GAAP

  • Over 10 years of experience within international organisations, collaborating with remote teams, centres of excellence, and shared services

  • Proven leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams

  • Strong proficiency in SAP ERP and commonly used Microsoft Office tools

  • Data-driven mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality service to stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders locally and internationally

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, with exposure to tax and treasury considered advantageous

  • High emotional and cultural intelligence, with a collaborative and proactive approach

  • Valid working permit for Japan
