The Embedded Hardware Engineer role offers the opportunity to design and develop advanced embedded systems for satellite and onboard equipment. This position focuses on high-speed interface design, FPGA development, and image sensor control within a collaborative and highly technical engineering environment.
Responsibilities
Translate system requirements into board specifications for satellite and onboard systems
Design electronic circuits, including architecture definition, device selection, and PCB artwork requirements
Develop FPGA solutions, including logic design, simulation, implementation, documentation, and software integration
Collaborate on schematic and PCB design with internal teams and external partners
Prepare manufacturing documentation, manage production requests, and perform inspection of delivered boards
Design and execute various validation and verification tests
Troubleshoot and debug hardware, working closely with software and mechanical teams to resolve integration issues
Requirements
Business-level communication skills in Japanese or English
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field
Hands-on experience in circuit design involving microcontrollers or FPGAs and peripheral components
Experience in FPGA logic design using HDL or IDE tools, including testbench creation
Knowledge of embedded systems and computer architecture
Experience with low-speed interfaces such as CAN, RS422, I2C, SPI, or similar
Experience with high-speed SerDes interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, or similar
Ability to design and execute hardware testing procedures
Familiarity with engineering test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analysers
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional engineering teams
Preferred experience includes:
Several years of embedded hardware development experience
Exposure to supplier coordination, including specification and cost management
Schematic and PCB design experience
Experience with FPGA systems using processor IP cores or SoC architectures
Embedded software development in C or C++
Real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or similar
Use of command-line tools, configuration management tools, and scripting (e.g. Python)
Experience in harness design
