The Field Trainer, Surgical Systems role offers the opportunity to support healthcare professionals in developing their technical and clinical expertise with advanced surgical technology. This position plays an important part in delivering high-quality training programmes, enhancing customer education initiatives, and supporting the effective adoption of innovative surgical systems across multiple clinical settings.
Responsibilities
Conduct surgical system training programmes for clinical teams at designated training centres, customer sites and remote locations as required.
Deliver technical training and system skills-development activities for surgeons, first assistants and operating theatre staff.
Train sales representatives to conduct customer in-service sessions and system technology skills-development activities for both new and established products.
Provide occasional technical and educational support for the surgical system within hospital operating theatres.
Maintain training equipment, instruments and accessories, including appropriate cleaning and preparation.
Build and maintain positive relationships with personnel at external training locations and internal stakeholders.
Contribute to the achievement of quarterly organisational and training objectives.
Develop and maintain expertise in surgical system technology, clinical applications and advanced technologies.
Build knowledge of operating theatre efficiency and relevant clinical workflows.
Apply established training pathway processes and training methodologies.
Use effective coaching techniques to support different learning needs and experience levels.
Record training activities and participant milestones accurately in internal systems.
Submit expenses and complete other administrative tasks using internal online training and business systems.
Support the continuous evaluation and improvement of training content, delivery methods and customer-training initiatives.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in healthcare, life sciences, nursing, biomedical engineering, medical technology or a related field.
Experience working in a clinical, surgical, medical device, healthcare training or application-support environment.
Strong interest in medical technology, clinical education and professional training.
Ability to learn complex surgical system technologies and communicate technical information clearly to healthcare professionals.
Strong presentation, facilitation, coaching and interpersonal skills.
Ability to deliver structured training to surgeons, first assistants, operating theatre staff and commercial team members.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training activities and administrative responsibilities.
Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, external training-site personnel and internal stakeholders.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within regional and global teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of training quality and equipment management.
Professional communication skills in Japanese and English.
Ability and willingness to travel to training centres, hospitals and other customer locations as required.
Flexibility to provide occasional support in hospital operating theatre environments.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Clinical experience within an operating theatre or surgical environment.
Experience as a nurse, clinical engineer, medical technologist, application specialist, clinical specialist or medical device trainer.
Experience delivering technical, clinical or product training to healthcare professionals.
Knowledge of surgical workflows, operating theatre efficiency and sterile practices.
Experience supporting advanced capital medical equipment or surgical systems.
Experience coaching or training sales representatives.
Experience using learning-management systems, online training platforms or internal customer-management systems.
