The Key Account Sales Lead role is a high-impact position focused on expanding retail distribution by securing new partnerships across multiple untapped channels in Japan. This role suits a commercially driven professional who thrives on prospecting, building relationships from the ground up, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales performance by owning targets across assigned key accounts and implementing actions to achieve sustainable revenue growth

  • Identify, approach, and convert new retail partners through proactive prospecting, cold outreach, and tailored commercial proposals

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and decision-makers across lifestyle, sports, outdoor, and apparel retail channels

  • Develop and manage a structured pipeline of prospective partners, guiding opportunities from initial contact through to closing agreements

  • Expand product distribution through strategic assortment planning, including exclusive items, bundles, and seasonal collections

  • Plan and execute in-store promotions, merchandising concepts, and seasonal campaigns in collaboration with internal teams

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and inform commercial strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in new business development, key account sales, or B2B wholesale or retail sales

  • Proven track record of opening new accounts from cold, including prospecting, pitching, and closing deals

  • Confidence and consistency in cold outreach and cold calling as part of daily activities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple retail accounts with significant turnover

  • Strong commercial negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships from the ground up

  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency, both written and spoken

  • Experience in lifestyle, consumer goods, kitchenware, tableware, or outdoor or sports retail is advantageous

  • Existing network of buyers within relevant retail channels in Japan is preferred

  • Business-level English is desirable
