The Operational Procurement Specialist role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement and supplier management. This position is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys working cross-functionally, driving supplier performance, and ensuring the reliable supply of materials and services in a dynamic industrial environment.
Responsibilities
Support the procurement of direct materials, components, and outsourced services for manufacturing operations.
Serve as the escalation point for supplier-related issues and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve challenges efficiently.
Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives when required.
Manage delivery schedules with suppliers to support business requirements and ensure timely supply of materials.
Track supplier delivery performance and help maintain compliance with operational objectives and requirements.
Collaborate with production planning and operations teams to expedite critical orders and minimise production disruptions.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cash flow improvement through sourcing activities and supplier negotiations within assigned authority levels.
Support indirect procurement activities, sourcing initiatives, contract reviews, and stakeholder engagement across the business.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
Experience purchasing technical products or direct materials.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and functions.
Experience working with suppliers to develop and execute improvement action plans.
English proficiency sufficient for reading, writing, and basic business communication.
Native-level Japanese language proficiency.
Experience in process industries is advantageous.
