The Ratings Associate - Corporate Finance role offers the opportunity to work within an international team supporting the evaluation and monitoring of credit ratings across a broad range of sectors. This position provides direct exposure to global financial markets and the chance to contribute to high-quality credit analysis, research, and rating decisions while leveraging advanced data analytics and AI-driven technologies.
Responsibilities
Partner with Rating Analysts in the evaluation and ongoing surveillance of credit ratings, industry research, and market engagement activities.
Utilise digital platforms, data analytics tools, and AI-powered solutions to enhance workflow efficiency and support deeper analytical insights.
Review and interpret financial statements, business information, and market data, while developing financial projections and valuation models.
Prepare materials and analytical summaries for rating committees and contribute actively to committee discussions and decision-making processes.
Assist in the drafting, editing, and publication of rating rationales, sector commentaries, and credit research reports.
Monitor economic, industry, and market developments to identify factors that may impact credit profiles and rating outcomes.
Support meetings with issuers, investors, and other market participants, including the preparation of presentation materials and discussion points.
Continuously strengthen technical, analytical, and industry knowledge through formal training programmes and practical experience.
Develop expertise in emerging areas affecting credit markets, including sustainability and ESG considerations, cybersecurity risk, private credit markets, and regional financial systems.
Requirements
Solid understanding of accounting and corporate finance, supported by academic studies, professional certifications such as CFA or equivalent, and/or practical experience in financial analysis.
Approximately 1–2 years of experience within financial services, consulting, auditing, or related fields preferred.
Exposure to infrastructure-related projects or investments would be advantageous.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with strong verbal and written abilities.
Native or business-level Japanese and professional-level English language proficiency.
Collaborative team player with a positive mindset and a constructive approach to challenges.
Strong planning and organisational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Hands-on experience using Generative AI technologies, including large language models and AI-driven automation tools.
Ability to apply AI solutions to enhance research, analytical work, process efficiency, and day-to-day business activities.
