The Senior Project Engineer offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of advanced energy infrastructure projects focused on battery storage. This position plays a critical part in supporting technical excellence across the full project lifecycle, from development through to operation, within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across all project phases, ensuring smooth transitions from development to construction and into operations

  • Develop and optimise system designs, including site layout, sizing, and equipment selection, while maintaining engineering and equipment standards

  • Assess new project opportunities and sites, supporting feasibility studies and grid connection applications

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to manage design reviews, quality assurance, and project risks

  • Oversee construction activities to ensure alignment with safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives, including regular site visits and reporting

  • Support systems integration, ensuring effective coordination between storage systems, grid infrastructure, and communication platforms

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and global teams, maintaining clear communication on progress, risks, and timelines

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant certification in engineering, preferably electrical engineering

  • More than five years of experience in the energy sector across project development, engineering consultancy, or construction

  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and analytical problem-solving capabilities

  • Proven ability to adapt and perform effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment

  • Knowledge of battery energy storage system design, control systems, and performance standards

  • Familiarity with power generation equipment and associated systems such as substations, power converters, SCADA, and fire protection systems

  • Proactive and self-motivated approach with a strong sense of ownership

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Japanese

  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, project management software, and CAD-based applications
