The Service Engineer role offers the opportunity to work with advanced engine and energy system technologies while supporting customers and service partners across Japan. This position plays an important part in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimisation of power generation systems through a combination of hands-on technical expertise and customer-facing support. It is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges and collaborating with both domestic and international stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to customers, OEM service networks, and service partners throughout Japan.
Coordinate and support service partners to ensure maintenance and repair activities are carried out in accordance with company standards.
Perform installation, commissioning, and start-up support for engines and energy systems at customer sites.
Troubleshoot technical issues and optimise system performance and operational availability for both new and existing systems.
Support warranty and goodwill claim processes, including application management and progress tracking.
Conduct technical assessments, root cause analysis, and documentation of equipment failures and damage cases.
Collaborate with development teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to identify and implement effective technical solutions.
Support sales teams by providing technical expertise related to service and maintenance activities.
Deliver technical support for plant control systems and electrical engineering matters.
Prepare project-specific reports and monthly service activity reports.
Requirements
Degree, diploma, or technical qualification in Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Strong engineering aptitude with the ability to provide technical solutions to customers.
Knowledge of engine mechanics and electrical technology.
Understanding of internal combustion engines.
Knowledge of measurement, control, and regulation technologies.
Qualified electrician certification with switching authorisation up to 1000V would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
Business-level Japanese and English language skills.
Good IT literacy and user-level computer skills.
Strong organisational skills with a systematic and independent approach to work.
