The Visual Merchandising Manager role offers the opportunity to bring a globally recognised luxury brand story to life across approximately 100 retail locations in Japan. This position plays a key role in ensuring consistent visual excellence, leading visual merchandising operations, supporting store development projects, and driving an exceptional customer experience. Working closely with global, retail and marketing teams, you will influence how customers engage with the brand while contributing to commercial success.
Responsibilities
1. Visual Merchandising Operations
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Visual Merchandising activities.
Translate and adapt global VM guidelines for different store concepts and campaigns.
Coordinate the rollout of global campaigns (typically 3–4 per year) across approximately 100 stores.
Identify and communicate local adaptation requirements when necessary.
Manage VM tools ordering, logistics, and follow-up with global and central teams.
Organise VM training sessions and meetings for store VM experts and District Managers.
Supervise and develop one Visual Merchandising Specialist.
2. Visual Display Execution
Conduct regular store visits, including domestic business travel.
Ensure stores maintain brand visual standards and consistency.
Coordinate and support visual merchandising installations for:
New store openings
Store refurbishments
Store relocations
Support in-store promotional activities and pop-up events.
Provide hands-on assistance during key visual installations and special projects.
3. Brand Excellence & Business Support
Ensure the brand image is represented consistently across all retail locations.
Support initiatives that enhance customer experience and increase sales performance.
Collaborate with marketing, retail and store operations teams to deliver best-in-class visual presentations.
Requirements
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
5+ years of Visual Merchandising experience.
Fluent Japanese and business-level English.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Strong project management, organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
Detail-oriented and results-driven mindset.
Preferred
Experience in fashion, luxury, jewellery or retail industries.
People management experience.
Strong understanding of brand-driven retail business.
Team-oriented with excellent stakeholder management skills.
