Responsibilities :

Support Head of Compliance to ensure Japan branch meets insurance and regulatory requirements.
Manage and assess departmental workflows; promote best practices and conduct testing.
Monitor regulatory changes and propose solutions with leadership guidance.
Address internal audit findings and collaborate on cross-departmental compliance issues.
Recommend and implement process improvements with stakeholder buy-in.
Prepare compliance reports and coordinate regulator communications.
Assist with external inspections and manage compliance deadlines via a calendar.
Identify operational risks related to regulatory, legal, and reputational concerns.
Review compliance policies and collaborate with legal and senior management.
Escalate legal matters to Global Legal Services as needed.

Required Experience / Abilities / Skills :

Over 5 years of experience in compliance or related risk and control functions within the financial services sector, preferably in insurance.
Ability to understand client business objectives, governing laws, and regulations.
Ability to comprehend complex accounting and actuarial practices and standards to design centralized processes while accommodating regional differences.
Knowledge of contract law and its impact on legal documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex legal, actuarial, and accounting concepts clearly.
