Responsibilities :

Manage a small team of experienced officers as the Head of Compliance for Japan.
Ensure organizational compliance with laws and regulations; oversee corrective action plans.
Make compliance decisions on reported issues within delegated authority.
Lead compliance change initiatives in collaboration with business units and regions.
Establish governance frameworks to manage compliance risks.
Manage and support compliance teams, including budget oversight.
Coordinate adaptation and implementation of compliance policies.
Monitor effective application of compliance standards.
Serve as liaison between business units, regulators, and central compliance.
Provide compliance guidance to business and regional teams.
Represent compliance function in relevant management meetings.

Required Experience / Abilities / Skills :

10+ years of professional compliance experience in Insurance or broader financial services industry in Japan
Experience managing a small team preferred
Proven knowledge of relevant Japanese laws and regulations, including those related to financial instruments and protection of client interests
Independent decision maker with the ability to influence people at all levels of seniority
Stay abreast of regulatory changes and assess potential impact on the business
Clear communication with relevant counterparties
Native-level Japanese and business-level English
